Fredrick Cecil Madill (1888 - 1969)

Fred was born in Claremont Ontario in 1888. Painting had become his passion and Fred grew into a prolific and accomplished 'plein air' painter under the guidance of the teachers and artists affiliated with FCAG. "You can see the influence of A.Y. Jackson, who inspired him at Master Classes", say his family. His style is strong, bold and free, depicting the character of the rugged landscapes in Ontario, where he explored for subjects, and painted on location in any season.
