Julius Marosán /1915-2003Julius Marosán was first recognized for his modernist drawings of the Hungarian Revolution which he experienced first hand in 1956. Not long after emigrating to Canada in 1957, the Globe and Mail's influential Art Critic, Pearl McCarthy, cited Marosán as one of the leading abstract painters in Europe at that time and felt that his work was some of the best she had seen in years.The art of Julius Marosán has been recognized as being the same caliber as his contemporaries - the cutting-edge Canadian abstract artists group called, "painters Eleven" whose members included such leading artists as Jack Bush, William Ronald and Harold Town.
